In the middle of the second period between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators game, things started to get physical.
Tanner Jeannot, who leads the league in fighting majors, took out Kris Letang with a huge open ice hit. Michael Matheson took exception and wanted to avenge Letang. Matheson and Jeannot dropped the gloves and provided a solid tilt.
Both men received 5-minute fighting majors on the player. There was no Instigator for Matheson, despite the fight beginning due to a clean hit.
The play actually woke up the Penguins as they scored a minute later. The Penguins would go on to win the game 3-2 on a Sidney Crosby overtime game winner.
