The New York Rangers best offer for Nils Lundkvist has left them extremely disappointed, offer revealed
The New York Rangers recently placed one of their top prospects, Nil Lundkvist, on the trading block. Lundkvist, 22, decided after only one season in New York that he'd like a fresh start. Lundkvist was drafted 28th overall in 2018 by the Rangers, but has only played in 25 career NHL games since.
Last season Lundkvist spent more time in the AHL with the Wolf Pack than on the NHL roster. While some feel he's ready to take the next step, Lundkvist falls behind Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba and Braden Schneider on the Rangers depth chart. So without a clear path to the NHL, Lundkvist is seeking out another path.
It was reported the Rangers would like a similarly developed player in return, but so far they've been unable to find a deal. Now according to Sheng Peng, the best off the Rangers have received is only a 2nd round pick.
The Rangers were reportedly quick to turn down the offer feeling it doesn't help them right now. It will be difficult for the Rangers to get a large return for Lundkvist with every team knowing they have very little cap and very few options.
