The full list of Colorado Avalanche injuries is almost as impressive as the Lightning
The Colorado Avalanche closed out the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning in 6 games. It is playoff hockey and much like any team in this period of the year, you have guys getting all the minutes they can, pushing through injuries for better or worse.
Today though the Avalanche released their list of injuries from their Stanley Cup run:
During the Stanley Cup playoffs, Bednar says Darcy Kuemper had to go to optometrist 2-3 times a day to "re-train his eye".
Other injuries:
Val - broken foot
Burky - broken foot/thumb
Kadri - broken thump
Girard - broken sternum
Helm - abdominal tear As you can see, Kadri, Nichushkin, Helm, and Kuemper were vital to the Avalanche winning the Cup. Kadri put up 15 points in 16 games, Nichushkin 15 points in 20 games, and Helm lived up to the roleplayer style he fulfills, 5 points in 20 but contributed to the victory nonetheless.
Kuemper adds a Cup to his profile, battling through it while injured and putting up these impressive stats:
Darcy Kuemper has a 17-10-0 record in 34 games with a goals against average of 2.72 and a save percentage of .908 in the playoffs in his career.
