Almost everyone knows that defenceman, Tony Angelo and the New York Rangers relationship came to a very messy end after last season. The former Ranger has shined this year in his new home. Tonight he is set to make his return to Madison Square Garden, this time as a member of the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.
For those that don't remember, DeAngelo requested a trade from the Rangers after he tried to fight Rangers' goalie Alexandre Georgiev after a game.
After the incident Tony DeAngelo's contract was eventually bought out by the Rangers. DeAngelo would end up signing with the Carolina Hurricanes. Where he has put up 10 goals and 37 assists in 55 games.
DeAngelo was asked by the media what kind reception he expects to get upon his return to Madison Square Garden:
I think it should be a positive reception, especially for guys like Brady and Quickie and Smitty.
I don't know about myself, what they're going to do. I think I was liked by a good majority of fans. Obviously a little portion there, they probably didn't. But that's that's fine. If they have anything for me, I couldn't care less.
Something tells me that's not entirely true. DeAngelo seems to care a LOT about what other people think about him. So much so that he allegedly created fake social media profiles just to pump his own tires.
I can only imagine tonight's reception will be of the hostile nature.
