Updated odds show 2 Canadian teams have some of the best odds of winning the Cup
The Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy in all of sports for a team to win. It takes 16 victories and 4 series victories to get your team to the penultimate moment. With up to 28 games luck has absolutely nothing to do with winning this trophy.
With the NHL season almost 1/3 of the season in the books, Money Puck has updated their odds for a Stanley Cup victory. Money Puck uses statistical analysis to break down each teams odds.
According to Money Puck the team with the best odds of winning the Stanley Cup are the Winnipeg Jets with a 13.8% chance, followed by the Carolina Hurricanes at 12.3% and the Toronto Maple Leafs round out the top 3 at 10%.
This analysis uses potential matchups and schedule difficulty to calculate these stats. All I know is that if your model has the Leafs getting out of the 1st round, it's probably broken.
