In the second period of what turnes into a physical game on Sunday night, the Winnipeg Jets one of their key players due to injury. The injury occured when Parker Kelly of the Ottawa Senators lined up the Mark Scheifele and laid a huge shoulder-to-shoulder hit.
Scheifele stood his ground on the hit but immediately grabbed at his shoulder. The Jets' forward would not return to the game after going to the locker room.
After the game, interim coach Dave Lowry gave an update on Schiefele and it wasn't good. There is no timetable on his return. With only a few games left in the season, Schiefele may be done.
The Jets haven't been officially eliminated from the playoffs, but this injury will make it extremely difficult for the Jets to try and gain the ground they need to try and make a run.
Hopefully Scheifele makes a quick recovery.
