Youth hockey coach accused of assaulting 10-year-old player, leaving bruises
A youth hockey coach in Moscow is in hot water after parents filed a complaint against the coach for allegedly assaulting their son. The incident occured at a hockey school in Moscow during a summer training session. According to reports, the alleged incident occured after a fight broke out between two students.
After breaking up the fight the coach allegedly struck the 10-year-old with his stick using full force. Sport24 provided more details on the incident.
The incident occurred during a training session on August 15 around 12 noon. A child got into an argument with another student about whose turn it was to do the exercise. The boys started pushing each other and ended up falling on the ice. When the coach noticed the scuffle, he drove up, broke the kids up, and then hit the one lying on top with a stick.
Paramedics who attended to the student noted a severe bruise on the students buttocks. This despite the fact that the student was wearing full gear at the time of the slash. The student was also noted to have multiple other bruises.
According to the boy's parents the coach is notorious for being very strict. They so noted their son was a frequent target of the coach and his anger. No additional information has been made available on potential charges.
