Breaking News - Insider leaks potential return date for Connor Bedard after suffering broken jaw
On January 5th, during a game against the New Jersey Devils, forward Connor Bedard suffered a broken jaw. The injury was suffered after Bedard attempted to cut his way through the offensive zone, when Brendan Smith delivered a huge check to Bedard. The hit, which was clean and went unpunished, caught Bedard off guard and sent him directly to the ice.
The hit led to things getting heated between the two teams who was ultimately forced to drop the gloves with veteran Nick Foligno. Bedard left the game and did not return. At the time of the injury it was announced that Bedard was expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks of hockey.
Fast forward just 5 weeks and it appears that Bedard may already have the green light to play. The Blackhawks have shared that keeping Bedard off the ice has been a challenge in and of itself, now it appears the rookie may finally get his wish.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet shared the following information:
Word this morning that Blackhawks and Connor Bedard are checking in with doctors about the possibility of playing tonight vs Pittsburgh. We will see what the day brings, but the good news is his return is close.
If Bedard is back tonight it could be a huge boost for the Blackhawks who have struggled having only scored 20 goals in the 14 games without Bedard.
