Boston Bruins provide health update on Patrice Bergeron and it's not positive
As game two between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers looms in the not-so-distant future, the Bruins again will be without the services of their captain Patrice Bergeron first reported by The Athletics Fluto Shinzawa and later confirmed by Hockey Night in Canada's Elliot Friedman.
Bergeron, who has recently been battling illness and injury will sit out this evening due to injury according to Bruins Head Coach Jim Montgomery. In game one without Bergeron the Bruins managed to beat the Panthers 3-1 behind strong goaltending from Linus Ullmark
The Bruins captain left the last game of the season against Montreal with an upper body injury and although the team seemed fine without him a long-term loss of their leader could spell trouble for a team who broke the record for the most regular season wins in National Hockey League history.
While it's been long believed that during the playoffs, a player will play through almost any and all ailments they are dealing with, this injury may be severe enough that the Bruins are looking at it in the sense that if they're able to get past the Panthers, they're better off having a healthier Bergeron in round two and going forward.
