Long-time NHL defenceman comes out of retirement, signs in Europe
After announcing just two months ago that the he was retiring from professional hockey, long-time NHL defenceman Justin Braun has ended his stint on the sidelines.
On Tuesday, the Straubing Tigers, a team in the German DEL, announced that they've signed Justin Braun to a one-year contract for the 2023-24 season.
"I'm incredibly happy to be a part of the Straubing Tigers. I can't wait to get there and start the next chapter of my career." Braun said.
The 36-year-old spent parts of 13 seasons in the National Hockey League with the San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers, amassing 199 points (34 goals, 165 assists) in 842 career games.
Braun was a pending unrestricted free agent once the Flyers' season ended and nearly two weeks after the conclusion of the 2022-23 regular season, he announced he was hanging up the skates in a post from the NHL Alumni Association.
