Earlier today, the National Hockey League announced that Bruins forward AJ Greer would have a hearing for cross checking Canadiens Mike Hoffman. Now the NHL has announced the punishment for Greer, take a look:
Greer was assessed a 5 minute major and a game misconduct on the play and will now be suspended for one game.
It was an obvious call, catching Hoffman right in the mouth, but as always, you never know what the DoPS is thinking when it comes to their punishment.
It's good to see the NHL take action like this, maybe this will finally set a precedent, although, similar actions usually resulted in a 2 game suspension and it seems like the league was lenient here.
Honestly, the expectations for the NHL when it comes to disciplinary action is already relatively low. I'm just glad there was a suspension at all
Mike Hoffman weighs in on the Department of Safety's decision while showing off a gruesome injury and he's not too happy:
Hoffman has a gripe saying he got two games for a cross-check to the helmet while Greer only gets one.
