Boston Bruins Make a Roster Move After Embarrassing Loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets
This evening the Boston Bruins are making a major shakeup to their roster to give their offense a spark by calling up former first-round pick Fabian Lysell.
Last night the Boston Bruins suffered an embarrassing loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 6-2.
The loss was the latest in a string of concerning games throughout the season for the Bruins which has revealed that the Boston Bruins might not be the contender they once were.
Just a couple of seasons removed from record-breaking success in the regular season the Bruins are clinging to a division spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
A playoff spot is however an improvement from where things were early in the season with the Bruins at the bottom of the standings back in October.
Still struggling to score the Bruins made a surprising decision to call up top prospect and 2021 first-round pick in the NHL Draft Fabian Lysell.
Not only have the Bruins called up Lysell from the Providence Bruins but they are inserting him right into the lineup tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
According to Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco, the call up for Lysell comes after the AHL coaching staff as well as the Bruins front office have been impressed with his progress this season.
Sacco continued and revealed that Lysell could even see some time on the power play as the Bruins try to get both of their man-advantage units going.
Lysell has taken the ice against the Blue Jackets and so far it seems the decision to call him up is paying off.
In his first game with the Bruins Lysell has already impacted the game in the first period contributing to a goal.
The Bruins currently lead the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 but Lysell is still looking for his first official point as he was not credited with an assist on the Bruins' opening goal.
As Lysell's stint with the Bruins continues it will be interesting to see if he can provide the jolt forward that Sacco and the front office were hoping for.
