Despite a red-hot start to the new NHL season, the New York Rangers have dropped their last two games, taking their season record to 12-6-1 on the season, making them one of the top teams in the entire league.
However, there are fears that the ceiling of this team may not be what it once was, with the team reportedly willing to shake things up in order to get their season back on track.
Now, they've made an official move with that in mind, as the team have now recalled Matt Rempe from the AHL once more, as it appears the 6-foot-9 heavyweight is getting another shot at the NHL level.
In recent times, the Rangers have faced criticism for their handling of Rempe, with many believing that the way they simply throw Rempe on the ice to fight and nothing more is doing a major disservice to the 23-year old.
Sending him down to the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack was reportedly a way to get him back to playing hockey rather than fighting, and with 1 goal and 3 points in 10 games played alongside the physical game, the improvements and confidence have come along.
However, he won't slot into the Rangers lineup immediately, with Chris Kreider set to miss a game with injury, Brett Berard will make his NHL debut in the place of the former 50-goal scorer.
It's unclear once more what the Rangers plan is with Rempe, who has been called out for his talent on the ice, but if the team can get his confidence going, he could soon be an asset to the fourth line.
