Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella admitted yesterday that he has lost a battle with rookie forward Matvei Michkov.

Last night, the Flyers lost by a final score of 4-0 to the Detroit Red Wings.

While it was a tough game for Flyers fans, there was one exciting moment that caught the attention of many around the league.

Late in the second period, Flyers rookie Matvei Michkov attempted a Michigan style goal, and got off a great shot.

Unfortunately for him, Red Wings netminder Cam Talbot saw it coming and made sure to get his blocker over to cover the top corner of the net, denying him of the goal.

After the game, head coach John Tortorella was clearly frustrated.

No one in the hockey world is surprised that Tortorella would have some spicy comments after a 4-0 shutout.

After all, this isn't even the first time this season Tortorella has gone off in his post-game comments.

This time though, the comments were directed at Michkov, specifically for his attempted Michigan goal.

He said that he's already told the rookie he doesn't like him attempting the move, but accepts that it is part of his game.

"What am I going to do, say don't do it? What I did say was I said was that you need to understand there are other plays to be made there too, because a number of the times he tried it, all's there were was turnovers. So yeah, I think I've lost the damn battle with that, I'm not going to try fight it. I don't think it should be in our game, but it is what it is."

Michkov has 11 goals and 27 points through 28 games this season. He is second on the team in scoring only behind Travis Konecny, who has 15 goals and 36 points.
