Amazing show of sportsmanship shown at LLWS after player hit in face by pitch
More often then not when a story gets shared about an incident in a youth sports game, it's for all the wrong reasons. But today during a Little League World Series tournament game we witnessed one of the greatest shows of sportsmanship.
This amazing sportsmanship came during the 1st inning of a regional game between Texas East and Oklahoma. Kaiden Shelton of Texas East released a pitch that road up and in, before striking Isaiah Jarvis in the helmet. The ball then appears to ricochet off his helmet and strike him in the face.
Jarvis was able to get to his feet, make his way to 1st base and remained in the game. That's when the beautiful moment happened. As Shelton stood on the mound visibly shaken, Jarvis dropped his helmet crossed the diamond and comforted the pitcher.
This incredible show of sportsmanship should remind us all just how special these young athletes are. In spite of the level of competition these young athletes gave us all a reminder of the human element that is involved in every game.
