Another game, another case of a referee's mistake costing an NHL team valuable points.

With 12:02 left in the 3rd period Tanner Pearson took a shot on Tampa Bay Lightning Andrei Vasilevskiy that he was unable to control, the puck remained loose in the crease. Canucks forward Conor Garland was able to poke the loose puck past Vasilevskiy. Unfortunately for Garland and Canucks the referee had blown the whistle milliseconds before the puck was in the net and the goal was immediately waved off. It's on the referee to use his judgement to blow the day dead when they can no longer see the puck, but his placement on this play is clearly questionable.

This was all the offence the Canucks could deliver on the evening losing 2-1. With the loss the Canucks are 3 points back of the Golden Knights for the 2nd Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. With the win the Lightning have 82 points, which is good for 2nd in the Atlantic Division.
