Another team receives a boost as NHL teams send more players to the World Juniors
As we get towards the middle of December, countries participating the World Junior Championship begin to announce who will be playing for their country. Today the Slovak team announced that Simon Nemec of the New Jersey Devils will be playing for team Slovakia. Nemec was New Jersey's first round selection in last years draft. The six foot defenseman has been playing in Utica in the American Hockey League. In nineteen games, Nemec has two goals and five assists for the Comets. This is a great addition for the Slovak team.
Filip Mesar also will be will playing for the Slovak team. Mesar is one of Montreal's first round picks from last year. Mesar was picked twenty sixth overall. Mesar was returned to his junior hockey cub after the draft. He has been playing for the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League. The right winger has eight goals and ten assists in fifteen games played.
As the days pass in December, look for more announcements from Slovakia for who is playing in this years tournament. The two players listed above are nice additions for this team. Both first round picks look to contribute and play well for their country. They will need good performances from these two players as Slovakia is in the same division as Canada and Finland.
