After the terrible news coming from Ottawa about the passing of Senators' Owner Eugene Melnyk, many wondered what was going to happen to the Ottawa Senators franchise.

Will they remain in Ottawa or relocate to Quebec, Houston or another locations? However, Sportsnet Hockey Insider, Elliotte Friedman revealed the future of the franchise.

Friedman reported that indeed the Sens may be on the move, but slow down they won't be changing area codes anytime soon. They're not heading to Quebec, Houston or anywhere else. But apparently there is renewed interest for the Senators to move the team from Kanata to downtown Ottawa, to the long rumoured LeBreton Flats area.

I think they have a vision for a strong hockey team in a downtown arena. And recently the bids were submitted again for LeBreton Flats, and although nobody has confirmed it, it's believe the Senators applied to be part of that process.

The fans in Ottawa have been wanting this move for a very long time. Often claiming their location now is the reason they have had low attendance and financial troubles in the past. This move would definitely help the Senators become a Premier NHL franchise again.
