In game one between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues, a controversial penalty sent Brayden Schenn into a frenzy. At the end of the third period, Schenn was battling for a puck with Colorado defensemen Josh Manson. Schenn was able to push Manson off and while Manson was falling to the ice, Schenn's stick clipped Manson in the face. Schenn was immediately called for high-sticking with under two minutes to play.
Brayden Schenn did not agree with the call. Not only was his stick not high, but Manson was falling over at the time. The rules state you must be in control of your stick at all times but that was borderline. Schenn made sure to let the penalty box camera know how he felt.
Fortunately for Schenn the Avalanche did not score on the ensuing power play. The Blues would fall in overtime though as they failed to register a shot before Colorado scored.
