In what's been a busy day across the National Hockey League in terms of player movement as the trade deadline approaches, the Edmonton Oilers wanted to get in on the action.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Oilers have acquired defender Mattias Ekholm from the Nashville Predators.
Ekholm, 32 has played in 52 games for the predators this season collecting 5 goals and 13 assists for a total of 18 points.
The Oilers needed to do something on the defensive side of the puck and with the rest of the league getting better, this move makes sense.
At this time, the return for Ekholm is not known, but it should be multiple picks at the very least.
