Breaking News - Carey Price's NHL career appears to be over
Last season Carey Price showed that he truly was a warrior. Price checked himself into the Players Assistance Program early last season as he battled through substance abuse issues. Upon his completion of the program Price fought through a grueling recovery to get back into an NHL net to conclude last season.
Price was able to get into 5 games, and ultimately won his final appearance on April 29th against the Florida Panthers. Price stopped 39 of 41 shots that night for the victory. Now it appears that could be his final NHL game.
Today Canadiens General Manager, Kent Hughes releases the following news:
Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes says he doesn't see a path for Carey Price to return and play during the 2022-23 season.
Price had reportedly been undertaking, Platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatments. PRP treatment is often a last resort for many athletes trying to prolong their career. Unfortunately it appears these treatments haven't worked for Price, who may have played his last game in the NHL.
If Carey Price's career is over, he will go down as one of the most talented goaltenders of his generation. But ultimately quality of life post career is far more important at this point.
