LA Kings prospect continues to try and force his way out of the organization
The Los Angeles Kings selected Lukas Parik, in the 3rd round, 87th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The Kings had high hopes for Parik after his selection, but since the pick the team hasn't been able to come to terms with the player.
Yesterday, Parik elected to sign an AHL exclusive contract with the Colorado Eagles.
Last summer the Kings refused to offer Parik a traditional NHL contract and instead only offered him a minor league deal. Many felt that Parik took this as a sign of disrespect. This off-season Parik hasn't negotiated with the Kings.
The significance of this?
If Parik is not signed by next summer to an NHL Entry Level Contract he will become an unrestricted free agent who can pursue a contract with any team. Until then though the Kings hold the ultra talented Parik's exclusive rights.
Multiple reports from the Kings, state that Parik is considered to be "hard headed and stubborn".
