Early in the National Hockey League season, there seems to be a common trend, players are crossing the line a little too much. Too many liberties are being taken and the on ice officials aren't taking the players safety into account.

Case in point, during last nights game between the Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres, Flames defender Nikita Zadorov hit Sabre forward Jeff Skinner in the numbers.

The hit happened midway through the second period, Zadorov meets Skinner in the corner and instead of taking body position like he clearly could've decided to two hand him across the numbers sending him face first into the dasher. Zadorov was assessed a 2-minute minor for boarding on the play.

If player safety and the NHL actually want to get rid of these types of hits, why is this still a 2-minute minor? Yes, okay Skinner got up and appeared to be fine after the hit, but injury shouldn't dictate punishment.

It's getting to the point, (or way past it) that player is a front to pretend they care about players.
