Calvin de Haan forced to take professional tryout to continue NHL career
Calvin de Haan has played over 500 NHL games with 3 different teams. But due to the salary cap de Haan has been forced to settle on a professional tryout to try and continue his NHL career. After speaking to multiple teams this summer de Haan could not find a fit.
de Haan and his agent reportedly had multiple conversations about joining the Vancouver Canucks, but nothing came to fruition. Today de Haan came to an agreement to join one of his former teams on a tryout.
The #Canes have signed defenseman Calvin de Haan to a professional tryout (PTO).
A veteran of 520 NHL games, the 31-year-old played 74 of them with Carolina during the 2018-19 season.
With de Haan at camp the Hurricanes will like have 5 defenders vying for 2 roster spots.
