Carey Price issues an updated statement after recent Instagram post
When Carey Price posted a pro-gun message on his Instagram account, he had no idea the organization he'd tagged had opted to exploit the École Polytechnique massacre. The organization offered the promo code, "Poly", for all of its followers. Something Price knew nothing about.
The internet was extremely critical of Price for this post and especially the partnership. Now Carey, who is a valued member of the Montreal community after years of playing in the city has issued a follow up post.
Yesterday Price claimed he didn't know about the shooting, but in today's statement Price admitted that wasn't true.
My heart and prayers are with the families and the victims of the 1989 École Polytechnique shooting today.
I think the people of Montreal know my heart and my character and know I would never intentionally cause pain to those impacted by gun violence.
Despite a previous statement released, I did in fact know about the tragedy. I have been a member of the MTL
community for years andI
understand the weight this day holds within the community.
While have no control over the timing of the amendment to Bill C-21 I
stand by the opinions I've shared, I acknowledge that amplifying any conversation around guns this week may have upset some of those impacted most by the events here in 1989 and to them I apologize.
Hopefully this is the end of this debate surrounding Price and this matter.
