The Colorado Avalanche have hit a rough patch in their season. The injury bug has found the team, with forwards Artturi Lehkonen and Jean-Luc Foudy out with injuries. Last night star forward Nathan MacKinnon left the first period against the Philadelphia Flyers with an upper body injury.

Colorado has placed Alex Galchenyuk and Jayson Megna on waivers, giving them some extra roster flexibility to maneuver with the injuries they are currently dealing with.

Lehkonen and Foudy are listed as day-to-day. The Avalanche moved Bowen Byram to injured reserve today, giving them room to recall Charles Hudon. Byram's placement is retroactive and he has not suffered a setback, meaning he still should be back relatively soon.

Galchenyuk was with the Avalanche on a professional tryout agreement during camp before a knee injury ultimately led to his release. Two weeks ago he signed an AHL deal with the Avs' AHL affiliate Colorado Eagles. In seven games with the Eagles, Galchenyuk has scored 3 goals and 7 points. He has impressed Avalanche management enough to reward him with a one year deal.

The 28 year old has played four games with the Avs, not recording a point, while averaging 9:49 in ice time.

Megna did not record a point in 13 games with the Avalanche this season and has three goals and six points in nine games with the AHL's Colorado Eagles this season.
