Carolina Hurricanes to honour best goaltender in franchise history
The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that former goaltender Cam Ward will be named to the team's Hall of Fame. Cam Ward played fourteen seasons in the NHL. Thirteen of those were with the Hurricanes and his last season was with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Cam Ward played in over seven hundred career games. He was drafted by the twenty fifth overall by the Hurricanes back in 2002 and was an excellent goalie for Carolina. ward was instrumental in Carolina winning the Stanley Cup back in 2006 and won the Conn Symthe Trophy for the playoff's most valuable player.
He finished his NHL career with three hundred thirty four wins, twenty-seven career shutouts, and a goals-against average of 2.74. All very good numbers and arguably the best goalie in franchise history. Cam Ward will join other fellow teammates in the Hurricane's Hall of Fame. He joins Glenn Wesley, Rod Brind'Amour, and Ron Francis.
This is the right move by the Hurricanes franchise. Ward was a steady, consistent, and an excellent goaltender for many years. Honoring their former playoff hero is the right move. Look for the Hurricanes to honour Ward at some point for this recognition.
