With the Colorado Avalanche leading 2-0, an awkward play in the 2nd period completely changed the outcome of the game. With the Avalanche on the penalty kill, Andrew Cogliano tries to clear the puck. Unfortunately the puck strikes the referee directly in the ribs.
The referee allows the game to continue and the Canucks manage to score a powerplay goal to cut the lead in half.

After the goal Cogliano was visibly frustrated and let the referee know how he felt. The referee didn't take too kindly to the comments and called Cogliano for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Canucks would add 3 more unanswered goals and win the game 4-2.
