Colorado Avalanche franchise Center Nathan Mackinnon was injured in Monday's nights game against the Philadelphia Flyers. MacKinnon was hit by Scott Laughton in the first period, ending his night because of an upper body injury.

Reports have come out saying Mackinnon will be out about of four weeks with an upper-body injury. If this time frame is accurate he will miss around 15 games. The 27 year old, has scored 8 goals and 34 points in 23 games this season.

The Avs are having a rough go of it when it comes to injuries. Forwards Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, Artturi Lehkonen, Darren Helm, and Evan Rodrigues are out. Defenceman Josh Manson, Kurtis MacDermid and Bowan Byram are on the shelf.

Colorado currently sits in a wild card spot with 23 games played. The West has been really competitive so far. Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets are having bounce back seasons as the quarter mark approaches. Dallas Stars have been excellent thanks to the play of young star Jason Robertson hitting elite status.

The Avs have too deep of a roster to miss the playoffs, but the injury bug has really effected their chances of winning the division.
