Erik Karlsson's trade reverberated in the NHL, with the Ottawa Senators using it as a rebuilding moment, with the assets gained. Where does that leave Erik Karlsson?

The highest-paid player on the San Jose Sharks, had to weigh in-on the topic, discussing the new GM Mike Grier.

"No, I committed here a long time ago," answered Karlsson when asked about a potential desire to move.

"It didn't work out the way we wanted it to early on. There are a lot of things that probably played into that. I'm not going to get into details about that. But I am excited for the future here now. I hope we can move in the direction to be successful again."

The San Jose Sharks made some gutsy moves this off-season, moving Brent Burns to the Carolina Hurricanes and getting rid of general manager,Doug Wilson.

With a new general manager and new players acquired, a lot of veterans won't stick around for a rebuild. However this, for now, seems like a mere re-tool with the best assets available.

Karlsson sounds confident about the moves made during free agency, and with the Sharks being on the fringe of the playoffs last season, there is hope to make that push this year.

Karlsson seemed hesitant to offer an opinion on David Quinn, the Sharks new coach, but seemed optimistic about the general plan of the year after a brief discussion with Grier.

It is now Karlsson at the top of the defense pairings, if the Sharks are to get anywhere this season, he'll need to play close to his Norris Trophy days.

That has yet to be seen, but there is hope.
