Evander Kane could be forced to return to the San Jose Sharks
According to Ryan Rishaug, the relationship between the Edmonton Oilers and Evander Kane, was a short-term relationship, as Kane wants to get paid for the production and there may be another stick in the bicycle spokes of Kane's career.
To make things even more complicated the San Jose Sharks may still own Kane's contract. According to Elliott Friedman, there is a possibility that an arbitrator rules the Sharks were wrong in terminating his deal and force them to honour the deal.
With that being said, if this happens, then will the Sharks move his contract to the Oilers or another team? Given the bad history between Kane and the club, it it seems impossible that the two parties could reconcile.
The Sharks terminated Kane's contract after what they concerned a material breach. The case has already been heard and is waiting for final decision.
«There wasn't one incident or a certain thing that happened,» Boughner acknowledged. «I think it was just a combination of a lot of things.»
That combination of things probably included but isn't limited to, a bankruptcy that has played out in public since training camp last season and numerous allegations that Kane flouted team rules regularly last year.
I doubt that the team will really want someone like Kane back in a locker room where he seems unpopular and where he refused to follow multiple rules, including the incident with the fake vaccination card.
Kane is due for a raise, as reported and it looks like someone will win, but who wants to? And will it be another Canadian team who needs scoring depth?
