A goaltender with the Humboldt Broncos has been suspended indefinitely by the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). According to Police in Humboldt, Jared Picklyk was arrested early Saturday morning, around two hours after his team had eliminated the Nipawin Hawks from the SJHL playoffs.

RCMP allege Picklyk was a the driver of a pickup truck that left the road and struck a home in Humboldt around 1:25 AM. Picklyk was arrested at the scene and charged with refusal to comply with breath screening. SJHL commissioner Kyle McIntyre told CTV News the league is investigating the incident.

"The league is presently investigating these allegations and will take appropriate action once our investigation is complete."

Shortly after sending out that statement to media, the SJHL announced that Picklyk has been suspended indefinitely until the investigation is completed.

Picklyk also played for the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes and Tri-City Americans before helping Humboldt finish second in the league in the SJHL regular season. No injuries were reported in the incident. Picklyk is scheduled to appear in court May 8th.

Members of the Humboldt Broncos were involved in a horrific bus crash in April of 2018 where 16 people were killed after a collision with a semi-truck. That included 10 players, two coaches, a statistician, a broadcaster, the bus driver, and an athletic therapist. The remaining 13 passengers suffered various injuries, many of them serious.
