Ian Cole issues statement about allegations against him
Today an anonymous Twitter account released allegations of sexual assault against Ian Cole. The account claimed Cole groomed and sexually assaulted her while she was a minor in high school. Following the accusations the Tampa Bay Lightning suspended Cole until an investigation could be conducted.
The NHL issued a statement that they would be thoroughly investigating these allegations that they take very seriously. At this time both parties noted they'd be releasing no further comment until an investigation was completed.
Now Ian Cole has broken his silence about the matter issuing the following statement via his agent.
I take the allegations made against me today in an anonymous tweet very seriously. completely deny these allegations and will fully cooperate with the NHL and the Tampa Bay Lightning, their officials and legal departments in the forthcoming investigation. look forward to clearing my name and demonstrating to the NHL and the Tampa Bay Lightning that these allegations are unfounded. will have no further comment until the NHL's investigation concludes.
Hopefully for the sake of everyone involved this situation can be resolved quickly and that the truth is revealed for all parties involved.
