Insider reveals what the Sabres asked from Anaheim in an Eichel trade, and it's INSANE
Once it was revealed that the Buffalo Sabres and Jack Eichel were headed for divorce, it was obvious that almost every team was going to inquire about the superstar forward. Jack Eichel was probably the biggest name to hit the NHL trade market in years.
Ultimately, the Vegas Golden Knights were the winners of the Jack Eichel Sweepstakes. The Sabres ended up acquiring Alex Tuch, Peyton Ktebs and a 1st round pick for Jack Eichel.
However, Sportsnet Hockey Insider, Elliotte Friedman revealed today there was another deal in the works for Jack Eichel before the Golden Knight's deal was completed.
According to Friedman, there was a time when Jack Eichel nearly became a member of the Anaheim Ducks. Friedman shared the following:
The Anaheim Ducks were concerned about Eichel's disc replacement surgery, also it is strongly believed that the ask for Eichel was Zegras, Drysdale and two 1st RDers. Anaheim wasn't going to do that.
You have to give Kevyn Adams credit because that ask from the Ducks is clearly one of the most egregious asks you'll ever see. There is likely no chance the conversation went a single second longer, but good on him for trying?
