The Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers came together on one of the biggest trades of modern day NHL history. The move sent Matthew Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers in exchange of Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt, and a first round draft pick.
We have heard from fans, and hockey analysts and insider but haven't heard much from the players until now. According to Hockey Insider, David Dwork who covers the Calgary Flames he reports that newly acquired Johnathan Huberdeau isn't happy with how this trade played out.
As the dust settles from the Panthers-Flames blockbuster, I'm told Jonathan Huberdeau isn't particularly happy with how everything played out. There were some early, informal extension talks, but Huby's camp was waiting for an offer that never came. The next call was the trade.
It's believed that Huberdeau wasn't happy that he didn't get a contract extension offer and going from the team he's been with since being drafted 3rd overall in 2011.
Now the question remains, could Huberdeau be traded again? If he's unable to reach an extension with the Flames it's not hard to see the Flames moving on from him for a haul at or before the trade deadline.
