Kyle Dubas and the Maple Leafs add another goalie via free agency
The Toronto Maple Leafs traded Petr Mrazek and allowed Jack Campbell to walk during free agency. This left a large hole in the Maple Leafs lineup as they entered free agency. Dubas was able to acquire Matt Murray from the Ottawa Senators and receive draft picks in exchange.
Now it seems Dubas and the Leafs are dipping into the free agent pool for additional help. According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic the Maple Leafs will sign Ilya Samsonov to be part of their goalie tandem.
Hearing Ilya Samsonov is headed to TOR
Samsonov was not qualified by the Washington Capitals earlier this week and is looking for a bounce back opportunity with a new team. Samsonov struggled last season with Washington but with new Leafs goalie coach Curtis Sanford it could be a good match.
