Yes the NHL trade deadline is over, but the Toronto Maple Leafs are still making moves reported by ESPN's Kevin Weekes. Today the Toronto Maple Leafs have traded defenceman, Brendan Mennell to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for future considerations. This is more of an AHL affiliate move than an NHL acquisition.
This move is ultimately more house keeping for the Leafs as it opens another Standard Player Contract for the Leafs, which they can use to add possible College Free Agents. Rumours have circulated the Leafs are interested in signing NCAA players Nick Abruzzese and Matthew Knies. Neither player can be signed officially until their team is eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.
