The Matthew Tkachuk saga has dominated the off-season. The star forward forced a trade to the Florida Panthers around the same time Johnny Gaudreau left, sending the Calgary Flames into peril, or so we thought at the time. Before the trade to the Panthers, there was another eastern conference team heavily invested in Tkachuk, but, something happened.

According to Hockey Feeds, the New Jersey Devils were heavily interested in acquiring Tkachuk, however, Tkachuk axed the potential deal.

Tkachuk, 24, had an impressive season last year tallying 42 goals and 62 assists for 104 points in all 82 games played for the Flames last season. Certainly his best season in the NHL by far.

I think however, he's entitled and maybe even a little spoiled. You're an RFA, typically RFA's don't get to demand where they want to play. Couple that with reports of his teammates saying he demanded to be named captain before he was traded and Florida has a real winner on their hands.

He's a good hockey player and he may even be a good person outside of hockey as most players are, but he seems to be a real cancer in the dressing room and a player who only looks out for himself. To me, results on the ice aren't worth that.
