Minnesota Wild defenceman Matt Dumba has heard his name in trade rumors for years now. Dumba's going to be an unrestricted free agent this summer and while he has played a pivotal role on this team for the last decade, the Wild won't want to lose him for nothing.

The Athletic's Pierre Lebrun forsees a Dumba trade even if the Wild are winning.

"And finally, if the Wild fall out of contention this season, pending UFA blueliner Matt Dumba most likely will be trade bait. He has a 10-team no-trade list. He might be part of trade discussions even if the Wild stay in the playoff race, as part of a hockey trade to augment the Minnesota roster.»

Wild GM Bill Guerin has blatantly said out loud that he is looking to acquire a top-six forward before the trade deadline this season.

Could the Vancouver Canucks be a match here? They have a disgruntled forward in Brock Boeser, who's agent has been given the freedom to reach out to teams.

The cap hits are similar with Dumba coming in at $6,000,000 and Boeser has a cap hit of $6,650,000 for the next three seasons. If Guerin's interested he would have to sweeten the pot to acquire the younger player whos under contract for two more seasons after this one.
