Mitch Marner heads down the tunnel to have a temper tantrum after being taken off the top line
After refusing to make changes to his top line, it appears that Sheldon Keefe had finally had enough. After a Mitch Marner giveaway led directly to the Leafs blowing a 3-1 lead, Keefe had seen enough. Late in the 3rd period Keefe opted to pull Marner off of his usual spot next to Auston Matthews, instead sending out Denis Malgin.
This choice left Marner absolutely incensed. During the next television timeout Marner walked over to the athletic trainer, grabbed his stick and walked down the tunnel. According to the TSN broadcast Marner then proceeded to absolutely obliterate his stick in frustration.
It's clear that things aren't going well for the Leafs, but seeing one of your best players walk down the tunnel and throw an absolute tantrum is not the signs of life you want to see. The Maple Leafs still remain disengaged on the ice and with no toughness in the lineup there is no one on the bench to try and spark this lineup.
The Maple Leafs would go on to lose the game 4-3 in overtime, ending their disastrous road trip.
