Montreal Canadiens unveil touching tribute to Guy Lafleur
Guy Lafleur was an icon. Both on and off the ice Lafleur embodied everything he wanted to be. Lafleur was bold enough in the middle of his prime to retire because he was unhappy with the way he was being treated. He also had no reservations of signing with longtime rival the Quebec Nordiques when he wanted to extend his career. Lafleur was unapologetically who he wanted to be.
Lafleur played 1126 career games, 961 of them with the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge. In his career he notched 1353 points and he still holds the Canadiens' franchise points record with 1246 points.
Lafleur, 70, passed away Friday after a long battle with lung cancer. Today the Montreal Canadiens honoured the legend with this perfect tribute.
Rest in Paradise Guy Lafleur
