It's something you may not have even noticed was happening. Devon Levi, the young goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres, has been told by the NHL to change the way he focuses during TV timeouts as he's getting in the way.
For anyone unaware, Levi will often come out to the slot during breaks, and kneel facing the net to meditate. He has said in the past that he just concentrates on his breathing and it helps him focus.
Levi says he's been told by the NHL he's getting in the way of the ice-cleaning crew, and needs to move. He won't give up the practice entirely, though.
"Devon Levi just told me that the NHL has told him that he can't kneel in the slot area to meditate during stoppages. That area needs to be cleaned. He told me he now will meditate on the faceoff circles.
Levi said his timeout meditation started at the World Junior Hockey Championship, and has really helped him remain calm and collected during games.
