During the Eastern Conference Finals a video surfaced an incident that occurred off the ice shocked hockey fans. After a game in New York City, a Rangers fan sucker punched a fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The incident occured as fans were exiting the arena and left the victim unconscious.

The perpetrator was eventually apprehended after another assault closer to the exit of the arena. The perpetrator ended up being 29-year-old Staten Island resident, James Anastasio.

Today Anastasio opted to plead guilty, this after initially claiming there were more details that would exonerate him. In exchange for his guilty plea Anastasio must complete 200 hours of community service and attend Anger Management. Anastasio is still set to serve a lifetime ban from Madison Square Garden for the incident.

Anastasia's lawyer told the Tampa Bay Times the following:

This speedy resolution aligns with James' desire to take responsibility. None of us should be judged by our worst 30 seconds, and he is grateful to learn from this experience without having to spend a single day in jail.
