The NHL season is set to begin tomorrow and with that comes the finalizing of rosters. Derick Brassard has been competing for a roster spot on a professional tryout with the Ottawa Senators. The 35-year-old came into camp knowing if he didn't make the Senators it would likely mean the end of his career.
Brassard has played in 951 career games, for 10 different teams. In his career Brassard has scored 522 points.
Today at team practice Head Coach DJ Smith made the announcement in front of the entire team that Brassard had in fact made the team.
The Senators and Brassard have agreed to a one-year league minimum contract. Brassard will play a depth veteran role as he tries to help get the Senators into the playoffs.
