Pierre Engvall ejected for two-hand slashing Sean Durzi in the back of the head a
Pierre Engvall is far from being known as a dirty player. Actually he's not really known for being a physical player at all. That's why it may come as a surprise that Engvall was ejected during tonight's game during the 3rd period.
Before the play Engvall had become engaged with Sean Durzi in the corner during a stoppage of play. The two players continued to go back and forth until Engvall finally lost his cool.
As Durzi turns around Engvall delivered a two hand slash to the back of the game head. Durzi immediately drops hard to the ice, only to get up quickly and approach Engvall.
The initial call on the play was a major penalty for high sticking, but the referees did choose to review it. After review they issued Engvall a major penalty and a game misconduct. With forward Nick Robertson already injured, this brought the Maple Leafs to 10 forwards.
