Forward Riley Sheahan was placed on unconditional waivers on Sunday by the Buffalo Sabres. Today, Sheahan has cleared, meaning his contract will be terminated.

The Sabres signed Sheahan this past summer to a one-year deal worth $950,000. Sheahan has only played 2 games for the Sabres this year notching no points. In 6 American Hockey League games Sheahan has 3 assists.

Sheahan can sign another AHL/NHL deal or he could opt to go to Europe to continue his career.

The Boston Bruins have placed veteran defenceman Anton Stralman on waivers. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, this move was made to potentially open up a roster spot for the soon-to-return Derek Forbort.

The 36 year old old Stralman signed a one-year, $1MM contract with Boston in October. Stralman has suited up for 8 games this season, failing to record a point, while averaging 15:22 in ice time.

While his best days are definitely behind him, Stralman could provide stability to teams dealing with multiple injuries on the back end.
