The changing of the guard happens every few years in the National Hockey League. Sidney Crosby was the first overall pick in 2005 and has put together one of the best careers in NHL history. Already a first-ballot hall-of-famer without question, he's given us a little bit of insight into when he may call it a career
In an interview with 32 thoughts, Elliotte Friedman asked the hockey icon when he plans on calling it a career, and if he would play after his current contact is up. Here's what Crosby had to say
no I don't think so, I don't want to say no, but I'm leaning towards that not being the case. You know I'm thinking about 3 more years and then seeing what happens from there. I know it doesn't do me any good to look past that
Crosby continued by saying:
I know that I want to continue to play at a high level, you know, I played a lot of hockey, it's something that takes a lot of effort. You gotta be invested and your body has to hold up. There's a lot of things that you need to go right to continue to play. I think 3 years is my focus and after that, we'll see where I'm at
Listen, we all knew Crosby wasn't going to play forever, but for him to put a timeline on the remainder of his career has many of us feeling some type of way.
We better enjoy the next three seasons, the Crosby show (thank you Bob Cole) may be ending before we know it
