Vladimir Tarasenko snaps at a reporter who asked about his trade request
It's been very well documented that Vladimir Tarasenko requested a trade from the St. Louis Blues. Once reportedly in 2020 and again from the organization back in 2021. The Blues even went as far as to leave Tarasenko unprotected in the Seattle Kraken entry draft.
Tarasenko wasn't able to be moved after his request in 2021 and stuck with the team through last season. The star winger had been displeased with how the Blues handled his multiple shoulder surgeries. Claiming their was a broken the trust between himself and the club.
Tarasenko wasn't having it when a St. Louis Blues reporter asked him about his motivations to leave the club.
For real, you asking me this on the first day? ... I'm not going to answer it. This can go both ways. I'm focused on the season now and I'm excited to be here, that's it.
It's clear Tarasenko doesn't want to talk about something that left such a lasting impact on the fan base. Athletes need to remember that when you go public with something, you no longer get to be private about it.
Tarasenko recently recorded his 500th career point with the club in March of 2022, against the Vancouver Canucks. The winger has spent his 10-year career in the Blues organization, playing 606 NHL games, putting up 252 goals, and 272 assists for 524 points total.
After this season, Tarasenko will be an UFA as his contract expires at the end of the season, and is his motivation to play his game, so he can be moved quicker? The star winger may have had injury issues, but there are clubs who can always use a player of his caliber.
