Erik Karlsson has had a great career but has been on the sidelines more often than not due to injuries over the past few years. But now Karlsson seems to be back to his prime and demand for him has seen a significant rise for playoff contending teams.
According to Darren Dreger on Insider Trading, he shared that internally, the Edmonton Oilers are showing a lot of interest in the D-man. He states that there is a sudden urgency to get another top 4 D-man since Evan Bouchard was benched last game.
If Edmonton makes a move for Karlsson, they'll have to do some really good cap management as they are currently up against the maximum due to injuries and LTIR. Erik Karlsson isn't going to be coming in with a cheap contract. He's currently commanding a 11,500,000$ cap hit and has term left all the way up to 2026-27.
