Will David Pastrnak's Next Contract Make Him A Bruin For Life?
One of the Boston Bruins main priorities is getting star winger David Pastrnak signed to a long-term contract within the next year. Pastrnak's offensive production for the Bruins has been superb. He has scored thirty or more goals in five of the last six seasons. Pastrnak is in the last year of his contract that pays him just over $6.6 million per season. Boston still has some of time to figure out what they want a long-term contract to look like with Pastrnak. You would have to imagine that Boston not only wants to sign Pastrnak to a long-term contract but even make him a Boston Bruin for his entire career.
Pastrnak has proved his worth to this franchise and he could continue to put pucks in the back of the net for a long time to come for this organization. Pastrnak is still in the prime of his career at only 26 years old and he has commented about how much he loves the city of Boston and how much he loves playing for the Bruins. Even General Manager Don Sweeney has suggested that he wants Pastrnak to spend the rest of his career with the organization. So clearly the feelings are mutual between the Bruins and Pasternak.
Boston's challenge will be utilizing cap-space to fit in Pastrnak's new contract. Boston will have seven other unrestricted free agents forwards at the end of this season so decisions on who to keep and how much Pastrnak's new contract will be is up to General Manager Don Sweeney. One thing is for sure, David Pastrnak is going to make some serious cash in his next contract.
